Jacque’s Morning DETOX TEA–Goodbye Coffee?

I am not a coffee drinker, but I do like the idea of starting the day off with something to give my body and mind a healthy boost, while also fighting toxins. That is why I begin every morning with my personal detox tea.

When it came to deciding what to put in my tea… I’m not a nutrition expert, but I do know my body. I wanted something that helped me focus, targeted inflammation, hydrated, boosted my mood and immune system, and just elevated my overall health.

Here’s what I came up with for my daily detox and how I make it. Feel free to give it a try or come up with your own recipe. Who knows… maybe this could be the first step towards you replacing that morning cup of caffeine.

Jacque’s Morning Detox Tea:

INGREDIENTS:

Hot Lemon Water: Vitamin C, Potassium, B6

*Benefits: improving liver function, helping with respiratory issues, boosting immune system, heart health, working as a diuretic and helping clear the skin.

Ginger Root: Vitamin B6, C, Iron, Zinc, Phosphorus, Filate, Magnesium

*Benefits: lowers blood pressure, nausea, heart health, anti inflammatory, lowers cholesterol, prevents cancer, fights infection, protects against alzheimers disease

Tumeric Root: Beta carotene, Vitamin C, Fiber, Iron, Potassium, Niacin, Zinc

*Benefits: anti inflammaortory, pain relief, digestion, cancer risk reducer, helps with various skin issues, antioxidant, brain function

Fresh Basil: Vitamins A, K, C, Magnesesium, Iron, Potassium, Calcium

*Benefits: cancer fighting, anti aging, stress fighting, rich in antioxidants, reduces inflammation

Maple Syrup: Zinc, Potassium, Manganese, Riboflavin, Iron, Thiamine, Calcium.

*Benefits: antioxidant, energy booster, immune booster, heart healthy, helps maintain blood pressure

DIRECTIONS:

-peel and cut ginger root and tumeric root into chunks, add to 1 1/2 cup of water, add juice of one whole fresh squeezed lemon, bring to a boil,

-reduce heat to low, let simmer for 10 min

-add 1 tablespoon (or less) of maple syrup

-add about 5 medium leaves of basil

-let simmer for 2 more min

-strain ingredients and pour into a mug
