Eat Clean, Pray: Preparing For The Daniel Fast

I’ve been hearing about the spiritual, plant based Daniel Fast for years, but never really felt compelled to give it a try. But that changed last week after my IG Live interview with Gigi Carter, co creator of the new program The Daniel Fast: A Bridge To Healthy Living. Gigi is quick to say that hers is not your church’s Daniel Fast.

The Fast is based on scripture from the Bible’s Book of Daniel. The basics require participants to eat a whole grain, plant based diet for 21 days while also following a set scripture reading schedule. Most people begin on January 1st. I would imagine various churches manage their Daniel Fast programs in a variety of ways, but many just share the guidelines with participants and then you are on your own.

Even though I have been eating Vegan for 3 years, I haven’t been making the healthiest choices during Covid. And I have not been able to get a regular schedule for reading my Bible. So when I interviewed GiGi last week about her plan, and she broke down what the course entailed… I decided on the spot that this was something I wanted to do.

Gigi’s says the Bridge To Healthy Living course is much more hands on. She and partner, Sersi Blue, want participants to refocus their connection with God through healthy eating. This course is a little longer (4 weeks) and more interactive. In addition to a very active Facebook group, Gigi and Sersi will provide:

  • Spiritual Lectures
  • Bible Teaching
  • Daily Journal Meditations
  • Nutritional Education and Meal Planning Strategies
  • Recipe EBook
  • Coaching Support
  • Access to Q & A live sessions all year long

Sersi and Gigi say they met during the pandemic and decided to combine their talents to launch their Daniel Fast progra. Sersi, also know as the The Faithful Vegan, decided to become Vegan after completing her first Daniel Fast years ago. She is a certified coach and has a Masters in Divinity Counseling. Gigi is a nutritionist and personal trainer and author with 2 books under her belt. The course kicks off on Monday, Jan. 11th and begins with a free 4 day challenge. The rest of the program cost $129, which will give you lifetime access to the course materials. That is a bonus if you want to try it again down the road. And there’s a 30-day no-risk money-back guarantee.

At first, I was skeptical about paying for the plan since so many people do it for free on their own or with their church, but once Gigi broke it down in our interview, I decided I needed to give it a try. I really love the idea of doing it within a community and having the opportunity to boost my nutritional knowledge. You can watch my IG live interview with Gigi here.

If you don’t want to pay the fee, remember you can do the 4 day challenge for free. If you do decided to give it a try, let me know here or on my social media, and look for me in their Facebook group.

I will post about my experience at the end of the four weeks, so be sure to check back.
